Ganesh Chaturthi Puja Vidhi – Ganesh Chaturthi 2021






Ganesh chaturthi is a festival of 10 days and lord ganesh is
welcomed home by devotees everywhere.It is said that lord ganesh is
worshipped with all sixteen customs along with chanting of Puranik
Mantras at the time of ganesh chaturthi puja and it is also known as
Vinayaka Chaturthi puja. Ganesh chaturthi is a festival of Hindu
community and is celebrated all over India with different rituals.

Ganesh
chaturthi puja vidhi is done with a proper arrangements and
preparations.Ganesh chaturthi puja vidhi can be done at the time of
pratahakal, madhyahankal, and sayankal. However, madhyahankal is
preferred as ganesh chaturthi puja Muhurat.The rituals that are followed
during ganesh chaturthi puja vidhi are given below and there are
sixteen steps that are prescribed in Sodhashopachara puja.


  • First of all deep prajawalan and sankalpa are done before starting puja and these are part of the sixteen steps of puja.

  • If you have welcomed and placed lord ganesh at your home then
    avahana and pratishthapan can be skipped as these steps are done for
    newly bought idol of lord ganesh either made of clay or metal. Moreover,
    it is important to keep in mind that pre-installed idol of lord ganesh
    at home are not given visarjan but utthapana is done at the end of puja.

  • Then Aasan samarpan is done. That is offering seat to lord ganesh.

  • After that Ardhya Samarpan (Offering scented water to idol of lord ganesh) is done.




  • Then Achaman and Snan are done.

  • When snan is done vastra samarpana is done. After that yagyopavit samarpan is done and gandha and akshat are placed.

  • After that pushpa mala is placed on the idol of lord ganesh and dhoop & deep darshan is also done.

  • Naivedhya nivedan, tambula arpana, and neeranajan (lord ganesh aarti) is done.


These are the sixteen steps of ganesh chaturthi puja vidhi.
